Arthur Thomas Daley, Jr., 68, of Hurley, NY, passed away on Saturday, November 28, 2020 at Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck, NY. He was born February 14, 1952 in Kingston, NY, the son of the late Arthur T. Daley, Sr. and of Dorothy (Hults) Daley. Arthur was married to his wife of 44 years, Beverly Jean (VanDemark) Daley, whom he wed on August 15, 1976.
Art was a 1970 graduate of Kingston High School, and a 1974 graduate of Syracuse University, where he rowed crew with distinction on the Varsity Crew team, and completed a Bachelor of Science degree. He had a competitive spirit and work ethic that carried with him through life.
A New York State Trooper for 25 years, Art started his service in 1977 with the 133rd Session at the State Police Academy, and served until retiring in 2002. He also established ABC Pool & Spa Service, a family owned and operated business that he managed for the past 35 years. In addition, Art and his wife owned Chic's Sports Bar & Restaurant, which they ran together for the past 15 years. He also spent many years as the property tax assessor for the Town of Kingston.
A true family man, he always put his family first. He dedicated his life to providing for his family and spending time with them, always choosing assignments with the Troopers that allowed him to stay close to home. He started family businesses so that he could even be with them during the workday.
Art was particularly proud of his sons and spoke of them often. He coached their ice hockey and little league baseball teams as kids, taught them skills and mentored them about life, and shared his knowledge to ensure that they grew up to be excellent men.
He was the best father anyone could have. A true role model and hero. He was loved, respected, and will be deeply missed. We love you, Dad. You meant more to us than we ever knew how to tell you.
Art is survived by his wife, Beverly Daley, his sons, Shane Daley and Arthur Daley III; his mother, Dorothy Daley, his sisters, Darlene Boice and Eileen Williams; and his grandson, Gunnar Gould-Daley.

When Art came over to take care of our pool, I always enjoyed talking with him. He was a really nice man and his son Arthur as well. He was a loving family man, often sharing his concerns for the health of his wife, Bev and sister in law. We will miss him. Carol Spinella & Mary Kosmark
I have only fond memories of working with Art when I was a prosecutor with the DA's office. A wonderful man, very dedicated to his work. My sympathies to his family.
My deepest sympathies to the Daley family. I didn't know art but did know his son Shane. From the photos Art clearly loved his family and his family time. A great role model for Shane who is a great friend. Our thoughts are with you all in this terrible time. The Niskas.
Our deepest condolences to Bev, Shane and Chops. Art was a good man and a great neighbor. He will be deeply missed.
We only recently got to know Art, through his work at ABC Pools. It was obvious from our first meeting that family and community were paramount in his life. He had an easy manner and good humor. We joked about our early days when Richard, who was an attorney in Kingston for decades, knew him as a State Trooper. We reminisced about mutual acquaintances and times past. We looked forward to working with him in the spring. We were shocked and saddened by news of his untimely death and send our warmest condolences to your entire family from ours. Richard and Susan Goldman

Philip and I were saddened and shocked to hear the news about Art. He serviced our pool for over 20 years and we always enjoyed our time speaking to him. A kind , caring man, who will be missed. We send our heartfelt condolences to the entire Daley family . Barbara and Philip Warshaw
Trooper Daley, Art, was a critical ingredient of what made "old Hurley" a community of people who helped each other - a wonderful place to live and raise a family. Those who grew up in this community going from infants to adults carry this spirit with them where ever they are now. The world is a better place for this. Those of us who raised families during period and life's path has taken us elsewhere, recognize how lucky we were to part of the community and carry the spirit where we are now.
Though We never met Arthur my daughter Megan and her boyfriend Mike are friends with Chops. When We heard what happened our hearts ached. We are sending prayers and condolences, always Dusty & Bill Stack
To the Daley family, Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. Art opened and closed our pool for over 20 years. We always had a nice time talking when he was here. God bless you all in the days ahead. Ron and Nancy Smith (The Orchid Shoppe Florist)
Condolences to all family and friends. I hadn’t had a lot of contact with Artie over the years but growing up he was like an older brother. I could write a book about all our adventures but suffice it say there were many. I owe much to Artie in particular, and the Daley family in general, for treating me much like a member of their family. “Rest in peace old friend”… John Cronan
Deepest sympathy to the entire Daley family.
