Rich traditions, proud history

Families have been placing their trust in us for generations. We have always made outstanding service our #1 priority and are honored to serve you.

Our History at Keyser Funeral Service

We have a long tradition of excellence in serving our neighbors with caring and compassion: Our roots trace back to 1889, when William K. Kukuk, (great-grandfather of Eric) became a funeral director.

After returning from World War II in 1949, Eric’s father William S. Keyser founded Keyser Funeral and Cremation Service as it exists today. Eric, now a fourth-generation funeral director with over thirty years of experience, joined his father in the business in 1974. Eric’s son Luke, who joined the family business in 2010, became the fifth generation of Keysers to serve the Kingston and Port Ewen/Town of Esopus area communities.

With compassion, understanding, and pride, Eric, Luke, and the staff at Keyser Funeral and Cremation Service at 326 Albany Avenue in Kingston and 216 Broadway in Port Ewen, are there to guide you in honoring your loved one, and to care for you in your loss.

The Story of Our Logo

Trees, with their roots in the earth and their branches reaching upward, represent the connection between Heaven and Earth. The trees also bring to mind the Family Tree—those loved ones who have gone before us and those who have yet to come. Birds symbolize the freeing of a person from their earthly heaviness, and the connection between the living and the dead, Heaven and Earth, and God and mankind. The Keyser logo features a pair of birds and a grouping of trees to remind us that we are not alone in life, or in death, and that our loved ones are always near.

The mountains in the background of this scene are a symbol of transcendence and ascension, of the meeting of Heaven and Earth, and of stability and changelessness. This is a reminder that though our loved ones have passed on, their presence is always with us, and our love for them is unchanged.

Like a spouse’s wedding ring or the embrace of a loved one, the circle that surrounds this scene symbolizes everlasting love. Though the circle suggests the cycle of life and the passing of time, it also assures us that life and love transcend our earthly existence and reminds us that life, memory, and love are—like the circle—infinite and unending.

Like the group of trees depicted, Keyser Funeral and Cremation Service has deep roots in the community. Our focus is on creating a meaningful experience to connect the living with those who have passed, and the birds in our logo represent this commitment. As the unchanging mountains, our purpose remains the same: to serve you and your family with understanding and care; to respect the lives of, and honor the memory of, your loved one; and to remind those still with us of our unending connection to those whose lives have touched our own.
