Margaret (Peggy) Tullis, 62, of Kingston, NY, passed from this life Wednesday, September 30, 2020, unexpectedly but peacefully, at home. She was born October 28, 1957, in Copenhagen, Denmark, daughter of the late Martin and Florence (Heppel) Nolan, both stationed overseas with NATO peacekeeping forces at that time.

Peggy painted her life in vibrant colors and loving, unswervingly loyal relationships. A championship athlete in her younger years (basketball and springboard diving), she enjoyed to hike on the Walkway Over the Hudson and the Ashokan Rail Trail. She liked to cook and bake, especially with and for others. She loved to travel, to tell jokes, and to listen to music, knowing by heart the words to every song written and performed by the band "America." Most of her energy poured out in creating visual art of every form, from coloring hair (her own and others), to coming up with imaginative, stylish clothing combinations, to painting and drawing in every medium and every variety of subject.

Raised primarily in Tennessee, Peggy brought hospitality and easy friendship with her to New York, and she spread good will everywhere she traveled. She worshiped with and was baptized into the Abundant Life Tabernacle Upci (United Pentecostal Church International), and she read passages from the Bible daily. Her prayers were frequent, loving, generous, and open-hearted.

Peggy enjoyed being with people whether working or playing. She volunteered as a bookkeeper for Tibet Aid (where she sponsored a Tibetan student), for Catskill Mountainkeeper at flea markets, and fiercely and joyfully on the political campaigns of her older sister, Kathy.

Peggy is survived by her siblings, Kathleen Nolan of Mt. Tremper, Cinnamon Nolan of Valladolid, Spain, Martin Nolan of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, an aunt (Jeannine Nolan) and cousin (Ruth Nolan) in Syracuse, and collections of cousins in Wisconsin and Colorado.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Keyser Funeral Service, Kingston, New York. A graveside burial service will be held at 12 noon on Tuesday, October 6, 2020, at Montrepose Cemetery, 75 Montrepose Avenue, Kingston, NY 12401. Later this fall, in celebration of her life, friends and family will host an exhibit of Peggy's art at Samadhi Community Outreach Center in Kingston.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Peggy's memory may be made to support her Tibetan student through Tibet Aid (PO Box 1081, Woodstock NY 12498) or online (via PayPal or at A tribute for Margaret can be found at, where you may leave memories and expressions of sympathy for her family.

Family, I played basketball with Peggy at UTC here in Chattanooga. I counted her as my friend. Her smile could brighten up a room so quickly! What an athlete! So quick and smart. I was at practice with her the day she hurt her knee. I loved Peggy as did her teammates. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Much love Peggy ❤️

Dear Kathy, Cinnamon, and Martin, With hearing my beautiful, sweet, multi talented friend flew from this earth, part of my heart went with her. Thinking of Peggy instantly takes me back to the Summer of 1971 when we met at the community pool in East Ridge TN. We became soul mates, she was family, so many memories. I will never forget she talked me into a dance routine for the HS talent show; we danced to "I don't need no doctor" by Humble Pie. I still have the picture of us in our little black outfits. So many thoughts of Peggy are swirling in my head, but the best is Peggy's SMILE. She could light up any room. Thank you Kathy for taking such loving care of your sister. Peggy will always live in my heart.....until I see her again. All my love.
