William J. Cummings

William J. Cummings, 88, of Kingston, NY passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2023 at Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY. He was born on September 29, 1934 in Cohoes, NY and was the son of the late William E. Cummings and Margaret Mulcahy. William married his loving wife, Anne (Gregory) Cummings on May 3, 1958 in Cohoes, NY.

He graduated from Siena College Class of 1956 where he received his BS in Physics. After graduation, he worked as a Program Manager for IBM in Kingston and Poughkeepsie before retiring in 1993 after 37 years with the company.

William was a member of St. John's RC Church, Woodstock and Knights of Columbus (3rd Degree). He played in the IBM Basketball and Softball leagues. He was an avid tennis player, skier, hiker and eater. He had a wonderful sense of humor which came out in his annual Christmas letter every year. He took great pride in writing this letter and sharing it with his closest family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Anne Cummings, his children, Susan (Jay) Cummings-Walder, William M. Cummings, Greg (Heather) Cummings and Shawn Cummings. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Josh (Kathrin) Faulkner, Seth (Erin) Walder, Ariane (Zach) Walder, Bowen Walder, Annalie Cummings, Keegan Cummings, Micky Cummings, Casmire Wegerzyn, and Emmett Cummings, two great grandchildren, Hannah Faulkner and Finn Walder. As well as his sister, Ann (Don) Dwyer and his in-laws, Edward (Elizabeth) Gregory, Clark (Donna) Gregory and Dorothy Blake.

William is preceded in death by his parents, William and Margaret Cummings and his grandson, Kevin Cummings.

Arrangements entrusted to Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, Inc., 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston, NY 12401, where family and friends may visit on Thursday, January 26, 2023 from 4pm to 7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 27, 2023 at 12pm at St. Ann's Church, Sawkill, NY.
