Wesley D. Clark

Wesley D. Clark, 85, of Port Ewen, died Wednesday evening, March 28, 2012 at Ferncliff Nursing Home, Rhinebeck. He was born January 29, 1927 in Port Ewen, the son of the late Robert T. and Lillian Clark.




He was the husband of the late Margaret Vitarius Clark; she died on April 30, 2006.




Mr. Clark was a graduate of Kingston High School; he was in the US Navy during World War II, serving on The USS Wiley, Pacific Theater of Operations.




He had worked for Hercules Powder Company in Port Ewen and then went to work for IBM in Poughkeepsie and then Kingston, in the safety engineering department.





He had been a very active member of the Port Ewen Fire Department, had served as Chief, served on the Port Ewen Board of Fire Commissioners, he was the fire coordinator for Ulster County for over 10 years, and was a life member of Ulster County Volunteer Firemen's Association. Past member of the Joyce Shirick Post # 1386, VFW and past member and Commodore of Hidden Harbor Yacht Club. He was member of the Town of Esopus Methodist Church. He had a love for Harley Davison motorcycles, he enjoyed taking rides and traveling across country.




He is survived by his son Wesley D. Clark, Jr., Tucson, AZ, his brother Robert J. Clark and his wife Katherine, Kingston, his sister Theresa "Sissy" Pilz and her husband Walter, Hurley, grandson John E. Sauers and his wife Michele, Port Ewen, great grandsons John Sauers Jr. and Jacob Sauers, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter Christine Sauers.




Entrusted to the care of Eric Keyser, Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 216 Broadway, Port Ewen, Friends may call on Thursday from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9. The service will be held on Friday at 10 am.





Burial in Riverview Cemetery, Port Ewen with military honors provided by Joyce Schirick Post # 1386 VFW.
