Walter E. Vogt

June 9, 1929 — December 5, 2021

Walter Vogt passed away peace peacefully in the comfort of his own home on December 5th, 2021. He was 92 years old. Walt was born in the Bronx, NY, to Heinz & Elizabeth Gydnia Vogt on June 9th, 1929. At 17 he quit the Bronx Vocational School and honorably served with the U.S. Marine Corps. He was proud to be a Marine.

After his discharge, the family moved to Kingston. He eventually joined I.B.M. where he worked for 31 years. While employed by I.B.M. he earned his GED from Kingston High School. He was a member of the I.B.M. Quarter Century Club, Redeemer Lutheran Church, and a 50-year member of the Kingston Mannerchor and Damenchor Club. He wore many hats at the club. He was very proud of the improvements he helped make to the facility. Walt was a people person with a great smile and personality. He could always make you laugh. He loved working outside. He took great pride in his home and gardens. He loved his family especially the grand and great grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Doris Kastner Vogt, his sons, Stephen Vogt of Kingston and Paul Vogt and his wife Irene of Saugerties, his brothers, George Vogt of Rensselaer and Paul Vogt and Patricia Brackett of Hudson, his siter, Rita Fisk of Florida, his grandchildren, Michael Vogt and his fiancée Kristy Proper of Saugerties, Becky Vogt of Saugerties, Cody Bowers and his wife Jennifer of Colorado, and Justin Vogt of Florida, his great grandchildren, Justin Vogt of Kingston, Mason and Peyton Vogt of Saugerties, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Heinz Vogt, Jr.

Services are entrusted to the care of Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Ave., Kingston, NY 12401, where family and friends may visit on Friday December 10, 2021 from 9:30am to 11:30am. The funeral service will follow at 11:30am. The family wishes to give Hudson Valley Hospice their wholehearted thanks for their compassionate care and support.
