Thomas Martin Torkelsen

Thomas Martin Torkelsen, 80, of Woodstock, NY, passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at Golden Hill Nursing & Rehab Center in Kingston, NY. He was born on October 6, 1945 in Brooklyn, NY, son of the late Sigurd and Margaret (Rasmussen) Torkelsen.

He was married to the late Patricia (Sullivan) Torkelsen; they wed on November 27, 1971 at St. Catherine Laboure Church in Lake Katrine, NY. Patricia passed away on March 30, 2017. Tom was in US Coast Guard from 1963 to 1967, a time of service he was very proud of. He later worked as an Electrical Engineer for Central Hudson in Kingston NY for many years. He enjoyed photography and was a member of the Sons of Norway.

Tom is survived by his daughters, Tanya Carr and her husband Michael of Kingston, and Kristen Torkelsen of Rochester, his granddaughter, Peighton Torkelsen, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, Tom is predeceased by his siblings, Stanley Torkelsen, Gunda "Jean" Danielson, and Helene Didden.
