Stuart Lipkind, 75, of Kingston, NY, passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at home. He was born on July 9, 1950, in Rockville Centre, NY.
With profound sadness, we share the passing of Stuart Lipkind, beloved father of Sara and Jeremy, Ethan and Leah, devoted son of the late Frieda and Lester, brother to Carol, Andy and Amy, Alan and Liz, “Poppy” to Noah and Shayna.
Aside from his family, Stu’s greatest joys were music and sailing. Stu was a lifelong trombone player, playing in concert bands, orchestras, and dive bars across the greater New York area. He also loved to sail and found great peace catching the wind in his sail cruising up and down the Hudson.
A graduate of Hamilton College and Albany Law School, Stu worked as labor arbitrator after a long and successful career defending educators as an attorney for the New York State United Teachers Union.
Stu cared deeply about the Woodstock community in which he lived. He was a member of the town planning board for several years.
Donations in Stu’s memory to the American Civil Liberties Union.
Arrangements entrusted to Keyser Funeral Service, Kingston, NY. The funeral service will take place at 11am on Friday, October 17, 2025, at Woodstock Jewish Congregation, 1682 Glasco Turnpike, Woodstock, NY 12498. Burial will follow in Montrepose Cemetery, Kingston, NY.
