Shirley Ann Gurkovic

Shirley Gurkovic, 89, of Allendale, NJ, passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at Allendale Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center in Allendale, NJ. She was born on July 28, 1936, in Kingston, NY, daughter of the late Edward and Julia (Golgoski) Terwilliger.

Shirley graduated from Syracuse University with a nursing degree in 1957. Worked and taught at Columbia University in her early career. She settled in Havre de Grace, MD to raise a family, where she was a nurse at the Perry Point VA Hospital in Perry Point, MD. Shirley enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, astrology, teaching, reading, gardening and sewing. She was a member of the 200 club. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Shirley is survived by her children, Christopher Gurkovic of Allendale, NJ, Julie Seward of Hyde Park, NY
