Sandra Joan Balogh

Sandra "Sandy" J. Balogh, 87, of Stone Ridge, NY, passed away on Friday October 2, 2026, peacefully at home in Stone Ridge surrounded by her family.

She is predeceased by her beloved husband, John "Jack" Balogh and her brothers Edward Weber and Kenneth Weber.

Sandy spent most of her life caring for others, leaving a lasting legacy of love, compassion and family. She and Jack opened their home and hearts as foster parents to 137 children. Sandy gave each child love, comfort and a place to call home. Her influence extended far beyond the time they spent in her care, as many of the children she fostered continued to visit her throughout the years. To them, Sandy wasn't simply a foster parent, she was family.

She is survived by 5 children, John M. Balogh, III (Marie) of Ellenville, Robert Vedder of Stone Ridge, Shonda Balogh of Cottekill, Tammy Faro (Rob) of Ramsey, NJ and Jed Balogh (Jessica) of Stone Ridge, 3 grandchildren Joshua Balogh of Ellenville, Cassandra Balogh-Kerner of Kerhonkson, and Piper Knopf of Cottekill. She is also survived by 3 great grandchildren Jack, Alton and Tirion Balogh-Kerner.

Sandy's greatest gift was her ability to make people feel loved, welcomed and cared for. The countless lives she touched are a testament to the generous heart she carried throughout her life. Her love will live on in her family and the many children who will always remember her as someone who cared deeply for them.
