Roy P. Anderson

Roy P. Anderson 89 of Kingston died Thursday, January 26, 2023 at home.  Born in Yonkers NY, he was the son of the late Francis E. and Renetta M. Anderson.  Roy was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. 

He was a proud Navy veteran and worked for IBM for exactly one-third of a century.  Many people may remember seeing him riding to work on his red moped with a yellow “wide load sign” on the back.  Roy was active in scouting since the 1940’s.  He was an Eagle Scout and a mentor to many young scouts.  Roy and his wife Lillian enjoyed traveling extensively throughout the US, Europe, Mexico, Canada and the Caribbean.  He was an active member of Fair Street Reformed Church for 60 years where he served as Elder, Deacon and chairman of the Buildings and Grounds committee.  He was the go-to guy for maintaining the large and complex church facilities. 

Roy was predeceased by his wife of 66 years, Lillian.  He is survived by daughter, Linda Short (David) of Montgomery, son, Roy H. Anderson (Lynda) of Saugerties, grandson, Andrew Short (Sarah), granddaughter, Emily Short and great granddaughter, Lily Marie Short.  Many nieces and nephews also survive. 

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at Fair Street Reformed Church with visitation at 10 AM and service at 11 AM.  Pastor Kendra VanHouten officiating.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fair Street Reformed Church or the local charity of your choice.  Online condolences may be left for the family of Roy by visiting www.keyserfuneralservice.com.
