Robert G. O'Brien

June 2, 1920 — March 24, 2013

Robert "Bob" G. O'Brien, 92, of Connelly, passed peacefully Sunday morning March 24, 2013 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 2, 1920 in Kingston, the son of the late Patrick and Winifred McLain O'Brien, he was raised by his mother and his late step dad Harry Henderson




He was the beloved husband of Catherine Gebbia O'Brien, they wed on August 26, 1945.




Mr. O'Brien served in US Navy, entering service in August of 1941, serving in World War II in the European and African Theater of operations. He was honorable discharged in December 1946.




He was a Machinist for Schatz Federal Bearing of Poughkeepsie, retiring in 1981. He was a parishioner of St. Peter's RC Church, had been a member of the Holy Name Society, was a member of Joyce Schirick Post # 1386, was a lifetime member Connelly Fire Department and had been assistant Chief, he enjoyed bow hunting, bowling & golfing and won numerous ribbons at the Ulster Senior games in golf




In addition to his wife he is survived by his loving family, Patricia K. O'Brien and Joseph J. O'Brien of Connelly, seven grandsons, 1 great grandson, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son Robert O'Brien and siblings Theresa Lake, Mabel Gunther, Lillian Clark, Ethel Quick and Timothy O'Brien.




Entrusted to the care of Eric Keyser, Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 216 Broadway, Port Ewen. The family will receive their friends on Monday from 7 - 9 and Tuesday 2 - 4 & 7 - 9. The procession will form Wednesday at 9 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peter's RC Church, Kingston at 10 a.m. Burial in St. Peter's Cemetery, Poughkeepsie with military honors.
