Ralph Loring Allen, 88, of Port Ewen, NY, passed away at home on Friday, July 14, 2017 surrounded by his family. He was born March 2, 1929 in Ithaca, NY to the late Charles and Ida (Gillette) Allen.

He was married to his loving wife of 62 years, Verna (Tobias) Allen; they wed on October 16, 1954 at the Plattekill Reformed Church in Mt. Marion, NY. Ralph was a graduate of Kingston High School and attended Cornell University. He was a self-employed dairy farmer for many years. He volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and the Hudson River Maritime Museum, which named a building after him, The Ralph Allen Boat Shed.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Debra (Michael) Gravesen, Susan (Lyndell) Cole, Janet Hernandez, Cheryl (Lee) Richter, and Robert (Patti) Allen, his grandchildren, David Gravesen, James (Sarah) Gravesen, Peter (Jennifer) Gravesen, John (Vickie) Artman, Daniel Hernandez, Amy (James) Husted, Ian Richter, Noah Richter, Miriam Richter, and Ava Allen, as well as his great grandchildren, Joshua Artman, Sydney Artman, Leo Gravesen and Jonathan Gravesen.

Entrusted to the care of Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 216 Broadway, Port Ewen. A graveside service will take place at 2pm on Tuesday July 18 at Tongore Cemetery in Olivebridge. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to, Hudson River Maritime Museum, 50 Rondout Landing, Kingston, NY 12401.
