Family and friends of our beloved Pauline Mukozho sadly announce that she passed away on April 11th 2025 while traveling out of the country. She was born Pauline Basara in Gutu, Rhodesia (later named Zimbabwe) on November 20th 1948. Pauline was a tireless woman of compassion, energy and love who became a proud US citizen in 2011. When not working as a Certified Nurse’s Aide and home health aide, her life was filled with volunteering at area food kitchens, the Happy To Help food pantry, Crop Walks, Red Cross, St. James Methodist Church and for other charitable and humanitarian causes. She was a member of the United Women of Faith where she organized a multi-year project that built a health clinic and birthing center in Matizha, Zimbabwe. She also was founder and CEO of Vana Vedu, a charitable organization that provides aid to orphans and other children in need. Pauline was an active member of the Kingston Rotary Club and was frequently seen working at various projects. A dedicated and tireless grandma, she provided for her grandchildren’s education in Zimbabwe from grade school through college graduation. At a gathering of friends a few days after her death, the two attributes most shared by everyone were her boundless love and huge hugs. Her funeral and burial took place on April 26th and 27th where she grew up in Gutu, Zimbabwe.
Pauline is survived by her brother Bernard Machakaire, daughter Sipiwe, grandsons Simon and his wife Ruvimbo, Kudakwashe (Kuda), granddaughter Rejoice and great-grandson Liam. She was predeceased by her parents, husband Simon and beloved son Robert (Bobby).
