Patricia Jane Mitchell

Patricia Jane Mitchell, 79, of Glenford, NY passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at home surrounded by her family and friends. She was born on December 11, 1946, in Brooklyn, NY, daughter of the late Emanuel and Natalie (Grossman) Mitchell. She married her loving husband of 50 years, David Marell, in 1969. David passed away on July 30, 2019.She was a graduate of Great Neck North High School where she made many dear friends that she is still in contact with today. Patricia met her lifelong partner and husband, the late David Marell, at NYU in a required math class. She later received her Master's Degree in Social Work from SUNY Albany.In 1974, Patricia and David moved to Woodstock where they first raised chickens and goats and soon after, their two daughters, Gabrielle and Emily. When the girls were little, she worked at Pine Grove Center, an outpatient care center for the chronically mental ill in Kingston, NY, Patricia was a founding member of the Woodstock Jewish Congregation where she served as president from 2000-2003. Growing up, in the 1950s, Patricia was very athletic and was proud of her success as a cheerleader at Great Neck North, and her role as the pitcher for her softball team at Camp Pontiac. As an adult living in Woodstock NY she enjoyed hiking, biking, kayaking, dance, pilates and her absolute favorite sport, tennis. She was also a passionate supporter of the arts, from Broadway musicals to the annual Jacob’s Pillow Dance festival. As part of her family legacy in the garment business, she loved fabric and tailored clothes and had a keen eye for superior looks on the rack of department stores and the Kingston Marshalls alike. Patricia is survived by a brother Jay Mitchell and wife Tricia Townsend-Mitchell of Newport, RI, Gabrielle Mitchell-Marell (Adam Gerzoff) of Burbank, California, and Emily Mitchell-Marell (Benjamin Umanov) of Glenford, NY, as well as her four dear grandchildren, Hudson Emanuel Gerzoff, Maximus Marlo Umanov, Noah David Gerzoff and Vera Day Umanov, and her brother, Jay Mitchell and his wife Tricia Townsend-Mitchell.Arrangements entrusted to Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, Kingston, NY. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday April 21, 2026 at Woodstock Jewish Congregation, 1682 Glasco Turnpike, Woodstock, NY 12498 at 10am. Burial will follow in Montrepose Cemetery, Kingston, NY.
