Oliver Davis

February 17, 1925 — April 5, 2012

Oliver Davis, 87, of Stone Ridge, NY, died Thursday, April 5, 2012 at Kingston Hospital, Kingston, NY. He was born in Boiceville, a son of the late Perry and Sadie Smith Davis.
For many years, he was a Laborer for City of NY at the Ashokan Reservoir, prior to that he worked at Hildebrant Shipyard in Kingston. He enjoyed farming and working with horses and helped managed Longview Farm in Stone Ridge and Longview Farm South in Loxahatchee, FL.
He was married to Edna Weinhold Davis who died October 8, 2003.
Surviving are three sons, Richard and his wife Laura of Stone Ridge, Carl and his wife Diane of Westkill and William and his wife Karen of Loxahatchee, FL; two daughters, Janice Barcone and her husband Timothy of Westkill and Barbara Brooks of Stone Ridge; one sister, Flossie "Sally" Davis of Stone Ridge. Also surviving are his grandchildren Melissa McHugh, Timothy O. Barcone, Elizabeth Randolph, Michael Barcone, Peter Davis, Stephanie Davis, Alicia Davis, Andrew Davis, Katie Brownell, Barton O. Brooks, Ashley Davis, Kirsten Davis, Zachary Davis, Jacob Davis, Maxwell Davis, Meagan Davis and Bradley Davis; two nieces, Helen Jeffs of Olive and Ruth Halstead of Samsonville. Twelve great-grandchildren and his beloved dog Thelma also survive.
Three brothers, Arthur, Perry and James Davis and five sisters, Matilda Elmendorf, Nettie Boice, Florence Johnson, Mae Plough and Millie Keator died previously.
Friends will be received at the A. Carr & Son Funeral Home, 65 Lucas Ave., Kingston on Monday from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 PM. A funeral service will be conducted at 8:00 PM by Pastor Caroline Berninger of the Rondout Valley United Methodist Church. Interment will be Tuesday, 10:00 AM in Fairview Cemetery, Stone Ridge.
