Noreen F. Diehl (born Mary Noreen Heybruck), 82, of Kingston, NY, passed away on Friday, May 2, 2025 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 5, 1942 in Kingston, daughter of the late John and Kathryn (Moran) Heybruck. She was married to her loving husband of over 58 years, Woodrow M. Diehl, they wed in 1966.
Noreen was a graduate of the Academy of St. Ursula, Class of 1960 and then went on to graduate from the Mildred Elley Secretarial School, Class of 1962. She worked as an Executive Secretary for the Board of Public Works in Kingston until the birth of her first child. After all her children became school age, Noreen was employed by the Kingston Police Department and Kingston City School District as a Crossing Guard. Simultaneously, she worked at George Washington Elementary School as a cafeteria assistant for 24 years, until her retirement. Even after retirement she returned to work as a Bus Monitor for the district.
Noreen was a member of the St. Ursula Alumni Association. She enjoyed cruising on the Original Rip Van Winkle, on which she and Woody celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with loved ones.
Noreen is survived by her husband, Woodrow “Woody” Diehl of Kingston, her children, James Diehl of Saugerties, Kathleen Hinchliffe and her husband David of Arlington, Virginia and Ann Diehl of Kingston. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Helena Diehl and Liam Hinchliffe, and her great grandchild, Chelsea Rose Diehl Knutt.
Arrangements entrusted to Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston, NY 12401, where family and friends may visit on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 from 4pm to 7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at St. Mary’s RC Church, 160 Broadway, Kingston, NY 12401. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Kingston.
