In Loving Memory of Noel Ramos
Noel Ramos, beloved by many, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2025. He was born on October 21, 1939, and will be deeply missed by the staff and residents of Cedar Ridge IRA, which he proudly called home.
Noel is survived by his dear first cousin, Irene “Lynn” Jimenez. He is now reunited with his beloved family, including his loving grandmother and his cherished Aunt Priscilla.
Noel was a treasured member of his community. He spent many years at Market Street before eventually moving to Cedar Ridge IRA. A devoted man of faith, Noel loved attending church and held a deep respect and affection for Pastor Jennifer Bendelius of Flatbush Reformed Church in Saugerties.
Noel had a steady and heartfelt love for many things. He adored horses and cats—though truly, any animal would bring a joyful smile to his face. He loved Christmas (and really, all holidays), the New York Yankees, dining out, and singing “You Are My Sunshine” with staff he adored. Puerto Rico always held a special place in his heart.
Noel enjoyed playing his harmonica and was incredibly proud of being able to sign his name. He loved whistles, yo-yos, rings, and bouncy balls, and he especially enjoyed taking pictures. Carrying his cherished belongings in his bag—along with his wallet—gave him a sense of comfort, happiness, and security.
Christmas held a particularly special place in Noel’s heart. “The First Noel” was his favorite song, especially the version by Pentatonix and the accompanying video. He would often request it and could frequently be found listening to Christmas music year-round, filling the room with a sense of peace and warmth.
Noel loved attending Wawarsing Day Habilitation, where he enjoyed seeing familiar faces. Peter Campbell and Traci Rosier were held in especially high regard by him, and the entire Wawarsing Dayhab team adored and deeply cared for Noel.
The staff at Cedar Ridge provided Noel with unwavering love, care, and support throughout his time there, creating countless fond and cherished memories. His team was devoted to his happiness, health, and well-being. Taking Noel out into the community brought him the greatest joy. Though he sometimes presented a tough exterior, those who truly knew him experienced his endearing personality and gentle spirit.
Noel will be remembered with great affection and missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Cedar Ridge IRA on January 20th at 2pm.
