Mary Schwartz-Bolin (ne Lamb), 91, of Kingston, NY and Clearwater, FL, died Thursday, August 24, 2017 at her daughters home.
She was born and raised in the Bronx. She was the third of the four children of Morris and Bella Lamb. Her oldest brother, George (age 97), lives in St. Louis. She was predeceased by her younger sister, Jean (zl), and her older brother, Murray (zl). Mary worked as a bookkeeper before being married. She and her husband Saul (zl) were married for over forty years. She stayed home to raise her children and then went back to work in the billing department of Long Island Jewish Hospital where she worked for twelve years before retiring.
In 2006, she found love again with an old and dear friend, Sid Bolin. She and Sid were married on Thanksgiving Day 2008. She and Sid divided their time between New York and Florida and their many travels. She was thrilled to add Sids three children and their spouses, six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren to her family.
Mary was a woman of great style, with a passion for fashion, especially high heels. She was fun-loving and energetic. She was generous, kind and touched many lives. She was a life-time member of Hadassah, a long-time member of Temple Emanuel Sisterhood, and volunteered her time for local causes.
She was a bright light and will be much missed by her family and community.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Melanie Hill and her son, David Schwartz, and their families. She was a much beloved daughter, sister, and aunt, with a special relationship to her nieces and nephews. She delighted in being a grandmother to her own five grandchildren and their spouses, in addition to her adopted grandchildren whom she took to her heart. She is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, August 27, 2017 at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave at 9:30 AM, with Cantor Devorah Gartner, of Congregation Ahavath Israel, officiating.
Interment will follow in Wellwood Cemetery, in West Babylon, NY.
