Mary L. Owen

Mary Lousie Owen, 95, received into the arms of her heavenly Father on May 11, 2026 at Ten Broeck Rehab and Nursing Facility. Mary had an unwavering faith in God and shared His love graciously with everyone.

Married to the late Rev. Nelson Owen, Mary served at the Rich Valley Wesleyan Church (PA), the Willow Wesleyan Church (NY) and local nursing homes. A gifted musician, Mary enjoyed playing piano, accordion and guitar and singing harmony with her husband. Mary lived a full life – staying true to her faith, she served without hesitation, loved her family unconditionally and was a kind and gentle soul. Mary will be greatly missed.

Mary is survived by her four children, Karen (Frank) Mergendahl, Judy (Kevin) Peters, Robert Owen and Debbie Owen, eight grandchildren, Robert (Cassandra), Chris, Eric, and Monica Mergendahl, James (Judy) and Timothy (Erina) Kiernan, and Lauren and Aaron Peters, as well as six great grandchildren, Jimmy, Aerith, Alicia, Anna, Madison and Blake.

Mary’s family is forever grateful to the Ten Broeck Esopus Unit Staff who cared for Mary with tenderness and compassion for over seven years.

Entrusted to the care of Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, Kingston. Family and friends may visit at Grace Community Church, 160 Seremma Ct., Lake Katrine, NY 12449 on Saturday May 16, 2026 from 10am to 11am. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11am with burial following in Woodstock Cemetery, Woodstock, NY.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grace Community Church Elder Fund or a charity of your choice.
