Mark A. Trott

d. January 9, 2022

Mark A. Trott, 60, of Lake Katrine, died unexpectedly on January 9, 2022, at his home.

Born in Bainbridge, Maryland, he was the son of the late Carleton Trott & Mary (Quigley) Trott.

Mark grew up in South Salem, NY, graduating from John Jay High School in 1979. Mark attended SUNY Oswego where he graduated with a BA in Psychology in 1984. His career path followed his values closely where early in his career he was a mentor for at-risk youth, as helping people was his number one priority. For the last 12 years of his life, he worked as a Mortgage Originator for Ulster Savings Bank, helping so many members of the community at large. He was a force, unrelenting and ever present, always just one phone call away for anyone that needed, his customers included.

Mark was a loving father, a dedicated member of Congregation Emanuel, and cared deeply about his family and community. His personal and professional life were devoted to fairness, compassion, and making the people he surrounded himself with smile. His big personality lit up every room he entered leaving a “mark” on nearly everyone he encountered during his life. Mark’s passion was volunteer work, whether it be at Congregation Emanuel, Kingston Rotary, Boy Scouts of America, and much more. He was always ready to help anyone who needed, no project or ask too big. Mark was an avid reader and lover of fantasy and history literature. He loved spending time with his children and thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors. Mark will be remembered by his community and the people who loved him.

Mark is survived by his two sons, Joshua Trott and his fiancée Shayna Ross of Troy, NY and David Trott of Milan, NY. Mark is also survived by his sister Elizabeth Trott of Tennessee, his brother Daniel Trott and his wife Simone of Maryland, his sister Kathleen White and her husband Nathan of Ballston Lake, NY, his former wife Elaine Trott and her fiancée Bernadette Scutaro of Milan, NY, his former mother-in-law Sandra Mehl of Port Ewen, NY, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mark is predeceased by his brother Jonathan Trott.

A funeral service will be privately held for family on Sunday, January 16, 2022, at 10:00 AM at Congregation Emanuel of the Hudson Valley, officiated by Rabbi Yael Romer. The funeral service will be livestreamed for all wishing to pay their respects at: cehv.org/livestream.
