Marion Louise Bowers, formerly of West Hurley, died on June 26, 2026, at The Pines in Catskill. She was 91. Born November 28,1934, in Garnerville, NY, to Sheldon and Irene Cable and was the youngest of seven children.
Her family relocated to a home on Spillway Road in West Hurley when she was two years old. After attending a one-room schoolhouse on Spillway Road, she graduated from Kingston High School in 1952.
She married her husband Robert on December 22,1953 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kingston.
After moving to Staten Island while Bob served in the US Navy, she and Bob built a home in West Hurley and welcomed their daughter Robyn in 1963.
Marion was a homemaker, Girl Scout Leader for many years and was an established real estate broker with her own business, Reservoir Realty. Marion also was a life-long knitter and for many years spent her weekends at craft shows selling her hand knit items. The highlight of this venture had her making custom one-of-a-kind sweaters for two popular daytime soap operas and watching the actresses wearing those sweaters on TV. She loved traveling and took numerous bus trips to see Broadway plays, traveled the East Coast, went on many cruises to tropical locations and to Nova Scotia. Her favorite yearly summer vacations were spent in Myrtle Beach, SC.
She was predeceased by her husband Robert in 1996.
Survivors include her daughter Robyn Murray and her husband Sean of Kingston, grandson Dr. Brandon Murray and his wife Dr. Mary McGahay of Albany, granddaughter Erinn Murray and her fiancé Matthew Burton of Rotterdam, and twin grandsons Ryan and Colin of Buffalo.
The family would like to thank the staff and residents of The Pines at Catskill for their compassionate care and friendship to Marion like one of their own family.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations made to a charity of your choice in her memory.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, July 6, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Montrepose Cemetery, 75 Montrepose Avenue, Kingston.
A luncheon reception will be held at the home of Sean and Robyn Murray immediately afterwards.
