Marilyn F. Mason, 78 of Hurley, passed away peacefully of natural causes with dignity and grace on Friday, May 16th. A loving sister, aunt, and caring friend to many.
She owned Marilyn Mason Muscular Therapy, helping and healing many members of the community and making friends. Marilyn was known for her love of gardening, bicycling, skiing, and enjoying time at the beach. Time spent with her girlfriends at social gatherings was always a highlight for her.
Marilyn was passionate about music and she always had music playing in the office, in the car, in her bedroom, and in her head. She was a contributing member of the band Orleans and writing lyrics for their hit song "Love Takes Time."
Born in Plainfield, NJ, she was the daughter of the late France M. Krogh and Stanley E. Mason Sr. She is survived by her brother Stanley E. Mason Jr. of Berlin, MD and her nephews Stanley E. Mason III of Emmaus, PA and Todd M. Mason of Greensboro, MD and her great nephew Cameron Q. Mason and her great nieces Samantha B. Mason and Sadie Mason and her companion and dear friend Eric Thoben.
"Marilyn was a true supporter of the arts: attending modern dance events at Bard College, purchasing hand-made pottery from local artisans, choosing to immerse herself in numerous live concerts, supporting various events at the Omega Institute, fawning over works of art produced by painters, and enjoying culinary delights from Woodstock area restaurants." said Michelle Rissolo, "She will be sorely missed in the Hudson Valley art world".
A celebration of Marilyn's life will be held on Saturday June 28th at 1:00 pm at her home located at 237 Morgan Hill Road in Hurley.
