Louise McGinnis

Louise “Weezie” Rota McGinnis, 79, of Kingston, died on April 7, 2023 at home. She was born in the Bronx, NY, daughter of the late Louis & Sue (Cozza) Rota.

Louise moved to Kingston as a young girl. She was a graduate of Kingston High School, Class of 1962. She later worked as a Teacher’s Assistant and Monitor within the Kingston School District for 26 years, retiring in 2010.

Louise loved people! So much so that she organized bus trips and founded “Friends of Weezie” which brought groups to Lake George, a variety of shows, and casinos for over a decade. She was a parishioner of St. Mary’s RC Church where she taught CCD. Along with her husband she was a member of Hidden Harbor Yacht Club in Port Ewen, where they enjoyed fishing.  

Louise is survived by her partner, Ralph Montellese of Kingston, Ralph’s sons, Dr. Daniel Montellese, Dr. Christopher Montellese, Joseph Montellese, Nicholas Montellese, granddaughter, Lillianna, Montellese, grandson, Vincenzo Montellese, aunt, Bert Cozza, as well as her goddaughter, Katherine Smith and her husband Michael and their son Evan, and many dear cousins and friends. In addition to her parents, Louise was predeceased by her husband, John McGinnis, her daughter, Gina McGinnis, and her siblings, Robert Rota, Victoria Rose Rota, and Francis Louis Rota.

Entrusted to the care of Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Ave., Kingston, NY 12401, where family and friends may visit on Wednesday April 12, 2023 from 4pm to 7pm. The funeral procession will form at the funeral home at 9am on Thursday April 13, 2023 and will proceede to St. Mary's RC Church, 160 Broadway, Kingston, NY 12401 where at 10am a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.
