Katherine Phay Souers

Katherine Souers, 93, of Kingston, NY, passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2026 at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson, NY. She was born on October 22, 1932 in Kingston, NY and was the daughter of the late Leroy Every and Phayetta VanDebogart.

Through the years, Katherine was involved in multiple singing groups starting with KHS Choir which led to her singing at Juilliard Music School as a HS senior, as a demonstrating vocalist under the direction of Leonard Stein. She could be heard singing through the years with KHS Alumni Choir, Ulster County Choral Society, Ulster Choral Society and the Church of the Comforter Choir along with other various church choirs at their request. In her younger years she would enjoy riding a horse around Kingston. Later in life, she was a member of the NY Trotters 5th Wheel group. She enjoyed traveling and seeing the country with the love of her life, Arthur, and then after his passing, Albert Capuano. Arthur and Katherine both having very strong ties with The Church of the Comforter, raised their children to be involved in the church in addition to serving, working, volunteering and singing for the benefit of the church.

She is survived by her children, Diana DuBois, Donna Hall, Robin Johnson, and Dean Souers. As well as 8 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. Katherine is preceded in death by Arthur Souers her husband of 43 years and her son, Allan Souers. Her brothers, Clifford and Herbert Every.

Arrangements entrusted to Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, Inc., 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston, NY 12401. There will be a memorial service on April 11, 2026 at 10:30am at The Reformed Church of the Comforter, 26 Wynkoop Place, Kingston, NY 12401. Burial at Hurley Cemetery will be private.
