John J. Doyle

John J. Doyle of Hoyt St., Port Ewen died Sunday, December 23, 2007 at his home. He was 76. He was born in Jersey City, NJ on November 25, 1931, a son of the late Dominick and Catherine Sheridan Doyle. An area resident for over 60 years, Mr. Doyle served in the US Army. For 30 years he worked at Hercules Powder, Port Ewen. He belonged to the American Legion Post 1298, Town of Esopus; and Kingston Council #275 Knights of Columbus. He was a parishioner of Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, Port Ewen. Two brothers William and James Doyle; three sisters Anna Fitzgerald, Veronica Looney and Catherine Hendricksen all died previously. Surviving are one sister Rosemary Carpino of Palm Coast, seventeen nieces and nephews. Reposing at Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The Town of Esopus American Legion Post #1298 will conduct a ritual on Thursday at 8:00 PM. The funeral procession will form on Friday at 9:15 AM from the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Presentation Church at 10:00 AM. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
