Joanne M. Whitman

Joanne M. Whitman, 97, of Kingston, NY, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 13, 2026, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 6, 1929, in New York City, son of the late Milton and Florence (Lass) Andorn. She was married to her loving husband of 68 years, the late Sanford "Sandy" Whitman, they wed April 23, 1949, in Cazenovia, New York. Sandy passed away on December 13, 2017.

She enjoyed visiting the beach, especially in Puerto Rico and Hampton Beach, New Hampshire. She will be remembered for all the time she spent tending to her colorful flower gardens and especially for her beautiful rose garden.

Joanne is survived by her children, Sanford "Sandy" Whitman, Jr. and his wife Mary Anne, Dale Whitman and his wife Donna, Cheryl Tiano, and Susan Heigl and her husband Brian, grandchildren, Nicole Suris, Melissa Dvorocsik, Jill Overbaugh, Katherine Whitman, Courtney DeVito, Amy Marshall, Kristin Ackert, and Luther Heigl, twelve great grandchildren. A special thank you is given to her devoted caregiver, Michelle Patterson. Joanne and her family were blessed to have her in their lives for the past seven years.

Arrangements entrusted to Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston, NY 12401, where family and friends may visit on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, from 5pm to 7pm. The funeral service will be held at 10am on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at the funeral home. Burial will be held privately.
