Joan B. Isgro-Grant

March 11, 1933 — January 12, 2024

Joan B. Grant (Joan B. Isgro-Grant), 90, of Saugerties, NY (and more recently of Aliso Viejo, CA) passed peacefully on Friday, January 12, 2024. She is survived by her son Richard Yogi Isgro and his wife Diann Kim of Costa Mesa and two grandchildren Daniel and Drusilla Lam-Isgro. Also surviving are nieces and nephews: Susie Schupp and her husband Martin of New York, Pamela Opipare of Texas, Lorraine Lyons and her husband Alan of Colorado, Linda Segovis of New York, GloriaJean Rubino of New Jersey, Robert Brueckner of New York, Frederick Brueckner and his wife Diane of Colorado, Thomas Brueckner of Florida, as well as several great and great great nieces and nephews in Texas, Colorado, and New York. Joan is predeceased by: Loving husband Sidney E. Grant who passed in 1998, a wonderful sister Theresa Storme Ruska, and 4 brothers Frederick Richard Brueckner Jr., Robert (Bob), Frederick (Fred W), and Albert Berton (Bert) Brueckner. Joan was born at the Benedictine Hospital in Kingston, NY on March 11, 1933 the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Richard and Elizabeth Jamieson Brueckner. Joan attended Kingston High School. Her favorite class was gym. She was captain of the girls basketball team, was part of tumbling class and wanted to be a gym teacher. She graduated in 1950. Later in life she attended Ulster County Community College (where she also served as a member of the Advisory Council for 15+ years). In her professional life, Joan's passion was real estate. She truly enjoyed helping people find the right place to call home. In her dedication to doing her best a few of her notable accomplishments include: President and owner of Ulster County Realty, Ulster County Board of REALTORS (two term pres.) 1972 & 1974, New York State REALTOR of Year 1991 (of @35,000 Realtors), Elected President of New York State Association of Realtors in 1998, Served on Board of Directors of New York State Association of Realtors for over 20 years while chairing committees and Professional Standards throughout New York State. Elected by the National Association of REALTORS to Regional Vice President as liaison for NY, NJ and PA in 2003, inducted REALTORS Political Action Hall of Fame in Washington, DC in 2009, member of National Association of Realtors and awarded REALTOR EMERITUS status in 2010, Earned National Association of Realtors designations including GRI (Graduate Realtors Institute), CRS (Certified Residential Specialist) and CRB (Certified Residential Brokerage Office Manager). Joan's charitable life included working and leading local community organizations and charities such as: appointed to the Ulster County Legislature to organize the Big Sisters program of Ulster County in 1973 for which she was on the Board of Directors and served as president for 2 years, first female Chair person Ulster County Chamber of Commerce in 1981, Board of Directors for many years of the Childrens Home of Kingston and President in 1987, served on Benedictine Hospital Health Foundation Board of Directors and was President in 1992, board member of Zonta International (Kingston Chapter) and also served as President, served as volunteer driver for the American Cancer Society's Road to Recovery program for patients receiving treatment, in 1992 she was honored by Ulster County Legislature with "Pride of Ulster County Award", active member of the Reformed Church of Saugerties as a member of consistory and treasurer. In Joan's "spare time" her hobbies included bowling, golfing and riding snow mobiles. In 2018, after a full and eventful life, Joan moved to California where she spent her final years with her son Yogi and daughter-in-law Diann. So long for now Mom. We will miss you. Services entrusted to Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Ave, Kingston, NY 12401 where family and friends may visit on Friday, Feb. 2nd from 4pm to 7pm and Saturday, Feb. 3rd from 10am to 12pm.
