Joan A. Ryan

Joan A. (Touhill) Ryan, 74, of Kingston, passed away Monday, October 21, 2013 at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany. She was born October 18, 1939 in Brooklyn, to the late John and Alice (Ryan) Touhill.

She was married to her husband of 39 years, the late Edward J. Ryan. Joan was a graduate of Catherine McAuley High School in Brooklyn. She and her husband, Edward, moved to Kingston in 1969, where they raised their family. Joan worked for Ulster County Mental Health for 25 years before retiring in 2002. Joan was a parishioner of St. Joseph's RC Church in Kingston. Joan was generous and never missed and occasion to send a card to a relative or friend.

She is survived by her children; Patrice Jaskiewicz and her husband Matthew of Belford, NJ, Thomas Ryan and his wife Karen of Roswell, GA, her grandchildren, Ellen, Cara, and Elizabeth Jaskiewicz and Grace and Jack Ryan, her siblings, Margaret Miller and her husband John of Chestnut Ridge, NY, Alice Morris and her husband Jack of Spring Hill, FL and Eileen Healy of NYC, sisters in law, Mary O'Hara and Susan Ryan both of Brooklyn, cousins Don and Cookie Reis of Port Ewen, as well as several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the staff of the cardiac care unit at St. Peter's Hospital.

Entrusted to the care of Luke Keyser of A. Carr & Son Funeral Home, 65 Lucas Ave, Kingston, where friends may call on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 12noon at St. Joseph's RC Church, 242 Wall St., Kingston, NY 12401. Burial will follow in Hurley Cemetery.
