Janet Croswell, 80, of Russell Rd., Hurley, died Sunday, July 7, 2013 at HealthAlliance Hosp. Broadway Campus, Kingston surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 19, 1933 in Ashokan, a daughter of the late Chester and Dorothy Davis Lyons. A homemaker, Mrs. Croswell also had been Asst. Town Clerk in Hurley and had been employed by Krom & Canavan Real Estate and Ulster Savings Bank. In her younger years, Janet was active in athletics, participating in skiing, bowling and as a member of the Rondout Golf Club. She met the love of her life, Raymond "Jake" Croswell at Dreamland Farms in High Falls. Mr. Croswell survives at home. Also surviving are two sons, Dennis Croswell and his wife, Mary Ellen "Mimi" of Kingston; Brian Croswell and his wife Rosalind of Wappingers Falls; five sisters, Marie Murdock of Lake Katrine, Gertrude Drake of Woodstock, Margaret Anderson of Kingston, Audrey Kraus of Hurley and Fay Wilkins of High Falls. Also surviving are two grandsons, Michael and Matthew Croswell, a granddaughter, Alexandra Croswell and three step-grandchildren, Louis Marven, Rene Marven and Thomas Marven. A daughter, Debra Croswell and a brother, Chester "Sonny" Lyons Jr. died previously. Reposing at A. Carr & Son Funeral Home, 65 Lucas Ave., Kingston on Tuesday from 4 - 7 PM. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday, 10:00 AM by Rev. Charles Stickley. Interment will follow in Hurley Cemetery.
