Jane Ann McClure

Jane McClure, 81, of Lomontville, NY, passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2026. She was born on October 7, 1944 in Middletown, NY. Jane was the daughter of the late Agnes (Horan) and Frederick Leinpinsel. She grew up in Wurtsboro and then moved to Middletown where she graduated high school in 1962. She attended Orange County Community College, SUNY Albany and SUNY New Paltz. Jane was married to her loving husband of 58 years, Dennis L. McClure, they wed on August 27th, 1966. After marrying and obtaining their masters degrees Jane and Dennis settled in Lomontville where they raised their two daughters. Dennis passed away in 2024.

Jane was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, aunt, teacher, and friend. As an educator Jane taught at the Rondout Valley Middle School for the bulk of her 30+ year teaching career as well as continuing education courses for teachers at Mount Saint Mary. She enjoyed reading, cooking, travel, politics, local history, trivia and people. She and Dennis explored the seven continents of the world together, with friends, and ones they made along the way. She dedicated her life to education and caring for others, always putting family at the center of everything she did. Her warmth, humor, wisdom, and wit touched all who had the privilege of knowing her.

She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Exman and her husband Peter of Palm Coast, FL, and Heather Lewis of Lewisburg, PA, her grandchildren Jill Tedlock, Paul Exman, Lee Exman, Sean Lewis, Connor Lewis, and Hannah Lewis, her brother Thomas Leinpinsel, sister Linda Pacion, and brother-in-law Bruce McClure, and her great grandchildren Cora, Caleb, and Margot. In addition to her parents Frederick and Agnes Leinpinsel, Jane is predeceased by her son-in law, John P. Lewis, and her siblings Frances Howell, Agnes “Lolly” Peets, and Fredrick Leinpinsel.

Arrangements entrusted to Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston, NY 12401, where family and friends may visit on Saturday April 25, 2026, from 10am to 12pm. A Celebration of Life will begin at 12pm during which attendees will be able to share a memory of Jane if they wish. Burial will follow in Hurley Cemetery, Hurley, NY.
