James P. Sleight

James P. Sleight, 63, of Port Ewen, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 20, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Also known as "Jimmy", "J.P.", and "Roberto", he was born on July 25, 1963, in Kingston, NY, the son of Ronald Sleight and the late Joan Sleight.

He loved working at Gateway Industries in Kingston and looked forward to going every day. He worked there for over 40 years and the family would like to thank everyone at Gateway Industries who supported Jimmy over the years.

Jimmy had a 50-year love of dirt track racing and would often visit both the Lebanon Valley Speedway and Accord Speedway. In addition to racing, he loved each and every sport. One of the things he looked forward to most was watching football with his Father.

He was loved by all, and he simply loved all who came into his life. He was all about love, family, and friends. Jimmy is survived by his father, Ronald Sleight, his sister, Lara Hart, and his niece, Madison Hart. He is predeceased by his mother, Joan Sleight.

Arrangements entrusted to Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service - Port Ewen, 216 Broadway, Port Ewen, NY 12466 where family and friends may visit on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, from 4pm to 7pm. A private burial service will take place at Riverview Cemetery, Port Ewen, NY.
