Harriet L. Haskins

January 6, 1928 — July 5, 2012

Harriet Louise (born Fitzgerald) Haskins, 84, was called home to the Lord on July, 5, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer. The daughter of the late Theron Fitzgerald and Ethel Brown, she was born on January 6, 1928 in Kingston, NY.

Formerly Harriet McClamb, she re-wed her loving husband, Raymond Haskins, on September 3rd, 2011 upon being reunited after more than 60 years.

In addition to her beloved husband, Raymond, Harriet leaves behind a loving and devoted family, including her son, Theron Haskins Sr.; four grandchildren, Theron Haskins Jr, Cory Kelley, Damon Kelley and Malik Haskins; five great-grandchildren, Tinora Locke, Tsahai Jenkins, Trinity Haskins, Dominique Kelley, and Melanie Kelley; her spiritual daughter Nora (Becky) Locke and a sister Muriel Russell.

A devoted member of Saint Clara's COGIC, she served as a Mother of the Church, Evangelist and Missionary. Mother Harriet answered her call to serve the community through ministries in the hospitals, jails, prisons, infirmaries and on the streets of Kingston. Through her work with those in spiritual, emotional, and physical need, Mother Harriet touched numerous lives and was a blessing to all she met. She has been recognized and has received many rewards for her outstanding commitment and dedication to her community.

Although Mother Harriet only had one biological child, she had many children. As a result of her acts of kindness, over the years many have come to adopt her as "mom". Mother Harriet not only opened her heart but her home. Drug addicts, the homeless, the disabled, the sick and single mothers have found solace at her residence. Mother Harriet dedicated her life to giving, whether it was food or finances, a hug, a prayer or just a warm hello. Many called her their "Mother Theresa", as she unselfishly gave her most precious commodity, herself.

For over thirty years, Mother Harriet worked as a home health care provider for Taconic DDSO in Kingston. A natural care giver, those she provided for became an extension of her family.

Mother Harriet's care is entrusted to Keyser Funeral and Cremation Service. The wake will take place on Sunday July 8th, 2012 from 5 to 7pm at Pointe of Praise, 243 Hurley Ave. Kingston, NY. The Home Going Service will take place the following day at Pointe of Praise at 1pm. Mother Harriet will enter eternal rest at Wiltwyck Cemetery, Kingston.
