Gary C. Baines

Gary C. Baines of Maple Rd., Shokan died Thursday, June 3, 2010 at Benedictine Hospital in Kingston. He was 57. He was born in Poughkeepsie, a son of Donald and Edna Colwell Baines. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1977- 1980. He acted in many plays at the former Hyde Park Playhouse, he enjoyed playing the harmonica. An avid fisherman, he especially enjoyed fishing at the Ashokan Reservoir. He was an artist and enjoyed spending time with his faithful dog of 16 yrs., Sasha. Surviving in addition to his parents of Highland are three brothers, Donald A. Baines of Broomfield, CO; Stephen J. Baines of Highland; Christopher L. Baines and his wife Sandy of Newburgh and one sister, Barbara Silvester and her husband Glenn of Highland. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Cremation was private. Inurnment will take place in the Ulster County Veterans Cemetery in New Paltz at a later date.
