Francis Kenneth Freundorfer

Francis "Ken" Freundorfer, 90, passed away peacefully at The Baptist Home at Brookmeade, Rhinebeck, NY, on November 27, 2011. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Mr. Freundorfer was born on May 25, 1921 in Marcellus Falls, NY to the late John A. and Alice (Glover) Freundorfer. He lived in Endicott, NY, where he met and married his loving wife June W. Pierson on April 11, 1942 at St. Ambrose Church in Endicott. They lived in Endwell, NY until 1966, when the family moved to Kingston, NY.

His is survived by his wife, June, his daughter, Lynn Colomello and her friend Paul Eades; his granddaughter, Elizabeth Colomello and her husband Steve Poleri; his grandson, C. Peter Colomello; his daughter-in-law, Paulette Freundorfer; and his grandson, Colyn Freundorfer. He is also survived by his sister, Katherine Cox and his brother, J. Lawrence Freundorfer, both in Endicott, NY. His son, Neil, predeceased him in December, 2010.

Mr. Freundorfer worked at IBM Endicott, Vestal, and Kingston, for 42 years. He was manager of the Engineering Dept., Machine Shop at IBM Kingston, when he retired in 1983.

Mr. & Mrs. Freundorfer were avid square dancers in both Endwell and Kingston, and were presidents of the Maine-Endwell Parent's Music Association, as well as active participants for several years. He also enjoyed golfing.

Mr. Freundorfer was an active member of the Kingston Kiwanis Club and participated for many years behind the scenes in the fundraising comedy Kiwanis KAPERS.

Mr. Freundorfer proudly served his country in World War II, in the Army as an X-Ray Technician / Doctor's Assistant, 4th Grade, in the 35th Evacuation Hospital. He served from September 1942 until December 1945 in Central Europe, Normandy, Northern France and Rhineland. He received the American Service Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
