Flora Werner

Flora Werner, 95, of Hurley, NY passed away on Thursday, July 6, 2023 at home in Hurley, NY. She was born on October 25, 1927 in Kingston, NY and was the daughter of the late Leroy and Elsie (Dunneman) Lyke. Flora was married to the love of her life, Warren Frederick Werner, for 74 years. Warren passed away on January 11, 2022. They were wed on September 5, 1948.

Flora was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Kingston. She was baptized and married there and was an active member for her entire life. Flora always loved the outdoors. She enjoyed camping, hiking and fishing. She especially loved fishing for salmon in Alaska. She and Warren also loved to travel. They made many cross-country trips in their “homemade” converted van. She also enjoyed gardening and bird watching. Flora and Warren were avid ballroom dancers and everyone loved watching them take a spin around the floor! She always loved a good game of Scrabble, which she won most of the time! But her greatest joy was spending time with her large family.

Flora is survived by her children, James Werner and his wife Carol of Hurley, Marjorie Bohan of Tillson, and David Werner and his wife Debbie of Rosendale as well as 6 grandsons and 7 great-grandchildren. 

Arrangements are entrusted to Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, Kingston, NY. A memorial service for Flora will be held at 11am on Saturday, July 29^th, 2023 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 22 Livingston Street, Kingston, NY 12401. Burial will take place after the service at Hurley Cemetery. For those who wish, contributions in Flora's memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
