Elizabeth Kyriacou, 69, of Kingston, NY passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on February 12th, 2026 after a courageous battle with cancer. She will be remembered for her effortless grace, quiet strength and independence, generous hospitality, and her ferocious love for her family.
Born on August 24th, 1956 in Tochni, Larnaca, Cyprus, she was the daughter of Angela Savva and the late Harry Savva. She had two siblings, Louis Savva and Maria Zambas.
Elizabeth married her husband of 48 years, Peter Kyriacou, on April 17th, 1977 in Kingston, NY. Pete and Liz grew up together in Cyprus and always knew they'd end up marrying one another. They were truly soul mates, and their love for one another was admired by everyone who was fortunate enough to witness. Anyone who had the opportunity to watch them dance together at Greek gatherings or even on a random afternoon in their home is forever blessed.
Liz moved to the United States with her family when she was 15 years old and attended Kingston High School. She quickly learned the language and the ways of her new home and rose to lead her family from a young age. She was the first in her family to graduate from high school as a proud member of the KHS Class of 1974. After marrying at the age of 20, hard work and perseverance led Liz and her family to purchase the Villa Carmella in 1981. The Kyriacous and Savvas worked side by side for eight years before Liz and Pete moved on to purchasing Guido's, later Christina's, in 1989.
Liz and Pete worked tirelessly together and welcomed thousands of patrons during their 36 years at Christina's. Liz touched so many lives in so many ways during those years, creating beautiful memories and relationships along the way. Revered by all who knew her, she was born to be in the hospitality business. Our community will forever remember Liz's smiling face as they walked through the doors of the restaurant, her swift walk through the dining room, her gracious stops with her signature Galatoboureko at their dinner table, and sitting with her evening glass of Montepulciano at Table 1 with her husband, friends and family. She and Pete officially retired on January 9th, 2026.
Liz found the most fulfillment through her family. Being a wife, mother, Yiayia, sister and daughter were her favorite roles. She dedicated her life to ensuring the best possible life for everyone she loved. Even with work, she prioritized time with her pride and joy, her grandson, Peter, and he will be a better man because of her. She was a protector, a provider, a teacher, and simply one of the most selfless people when it came to taking care of others. She loved without conditions and gave without taking. Never afraid to silently carry the weight of the world, her family hopes her unyielding spirit is finally flying free. Her legacy will undoubtedly live on through how she taught her family to live and love.
She is survived by her husband, Peter Kyriacou, daughter, Christina (Nicholas) Krzywonos, grandson, Peter Krzywonos, mother, Angela Savva, siblings, Louis (Roula) Savva and Maria (Andreas) Zambas, sister-in-law, Myroulla (George) Georgiou, nieces and nephews, Harry (Stephanie) Savva, Barbara (Dimitrios) Sassos, Christopher Zambas, Angela Zambas, Dia Georgiou, Christina (Christos) Papachristou, Elenie (Xenaki) Loizou and countless more aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, Godchildren, cousins, great nieces and great nephews in the US, UK, Greece and Cyprus. She is predeceased by her father, Harry Savva.
