Elbert F. Mac Fadden

Elbert ''Bert'' Mac Fadden, Jr. M.D., 96, a lifelong resident of Kingston, died Saturday, January 7, 2012 at Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck, NY. He was born June 10, 1915 in Kingston to the late Elbert F. and Mabel Van Wagenen Mac Fadden.




He was married to his loving wife, Petra Albers Mac Fadden, they wed on December 15th 1973.




Bert was a graduate of Kingston High School, Middlebury College, and Albany Medical College. He did his Postgraduate Medical training at the Babies Hospital of Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center and New York Hospital of Cornell Medical Center.




In addition to his private pediatric practice of nearly 60 years, Bert was the Past President of Ulster County Medical Society, former Chief of Pediatrics at Kingston and Benedictine Hospitals and had also been Chief of Staff at Kingston Hospital. He had been the Pediatric Physician at the Wiltwyck Boys School and the Children's home of Kingston for many years, additionally he had been the consulting pediatrician at Ellenville Hospital. Past President of Cerebral Palsy of Ulster County, former chairman of Medical Advisory Board of NYS Cerebral Palsy Association and Medical Director of Community Rehabilitation Center. Past President of Mid-Hudson Pediatric Society and Mid- Hudson Middlebury College Alumni Association; Founder and Trustee of Ulster Academy, Board member of Mental Health Association of Ulster Count; Member of Rotary Club of Kingston for over 50 years; former President of Callabar Club; Honorary Board member of Fair Street Nursery School.




In addition to his wife he is survived by his children; Bruce Mac Fadden and his wife Lynn of Ocala, FL, Robin Parish and her husband Richard of Wheaton, IL, and Robin Martini of Kingston, his grandchildren, Andrea and Christopher Mac Fadden, Devon, Patrick and Hartley Parish, William Loughran and Katharina Martini, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Carolyn Smith.






Entrusted to the care of Luke Keyser, Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service,, 326 Albany Ave., Kingston, 12401. Friends may call on Thursday from 2 - 7 pm. The procession will form on Friday at 10am at the funeral home and then proceed to Hurley Reformed Church, where the funeral service will take place at 11am with Rev. Dr. Robert Grahm, officiating.




Burial will follow in Montrepose Cemetery.
