Dorothy M. Grosso

Dorothy M. Grosso, 93, of Kingston, NY, formerly of Connelly and Ulster Park, passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2017. She was the daughter of the late Frederick and Christina (Stauffer) Graf. Dottie was married to Benny Grosso who passed away in 1977.

She worked for many years at Hercules Inc., in Port Ewen, NY until her retirement in 1985. She was a parishioner of St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church in Kingston where she had been an active volunteer, including the restoration of statues and holiday art projects. She was a member of the Town of Esopus Senior Citizens, Klyne Esopus Historical Society, and the Esopus Meadows Lighthouse Restoration. Dottie was an energetic and fun-loving person, who was involved in many activities with her family and community. When she was in her 50's she completed her GED. Dottie was well known for her paintings, and was an accomplished artist.

Dottie is survived by her daughters, Barbara Walker of Kingston, and Karen Schmitz of Port Ewen, her grandchildren, Kim Hoy-Baker and her husband Jay Baker, Lisa Hoy-Pugliese and her husband Joseph Pugliese, Ronald Schmitz, Guy Walker and his wife Karen, and Lisa Malone, her great grandchildren, Linzey (Pugliese) Wrixon and her husband Connor, Victoria Pugliese, Aaron Schmitz, and Molly Malone, as well as her great great grandson, Brantley Wrixon. In addition to her husband and parents she is predeceased by her step father, Joseph Purish, her brother, Frederick Graf, Jr., and her life-long friend, Bertha Popowich.

Entrusted to the care of Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Ave., Kingston, NY 12401 where family and friends may call on Thursday December 21, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. The funeral procession will form at the funeral home on Friday December 22, 2017 at 9am and proceed to St. Peter's RC Church, 93 Wurts St., Kingston, NY 12401, where at 10am a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Kingston. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Esopus Meadows Lighthouse, PO Box 1290, Port Ewen, NY 12466 or at www.EsopusMeadowsLighthouse.org .
