Donald Gilbert

Donald Gilbert, 85, of New Paltz, NY, passed away on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at HealthAlliance Hospital in Kingston, NY. He was born on March 19, 1940, in Albany, NY, son of the late Josiah and Gladys (Mildred) Gilbert.

He leaves behind his friends at The Rousner IRA House in New Paltz, they were like family to him. In addition to his parents, Donald is predeceased by his brother, Edward Gilbert, and his longtime companion, Eleanor Skiff.

He worked for many years for the US Postal Service before working for Pilot Industries until his retirement. After retirement he attended the day program at The ARC.

Donald loved art and sold several paintings at art exhibits within his local community. He also enjoyed animals, especially horses and cats, which we would often paint. Donald had an appreciation for stone architecture and loved lighthouses and the American Flag.

Arrangements entrusted to Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Ave., Kingston, NY 12401, where friends and family may visit on Wednesday September 3, 2025, from 10am to 11am with the service starting at 11am.
