Donald Dixon, of Glenford, NY, left this world too soon on March 5, 2026, at age 78.
Don was a vibrant spirit: a deep thinker, passionate folk and rock music lover, avid gardener, juggler, frisbee player, and a loyal (aka long-suffering) Mets-Jets-Knicks fan. He loved old movies and tv shows, and he had a wonderful singing voice and sense of humor.
Don was an enthusiastic and beloved junior high English teacher at Wappingers CSD for 33 years, sharing his love of reading and writing with thousands of students over the years. He was devoted to his family, showing his deep love through generosity and caretaking.
Don is survived by his loving wife, Karen Katz; his children, Ethan Katz-Dixon, Dylan Katz-Dixon, Jennifer Jones (Chris), Jeremiah Dixon (Patricia), and Jonathan Dixon; his grandchildren Edward, Naomi, Fiona, Jackson, Catherine, Cillian, and Willa; and his sister, Patty Lavery (Gary).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy and Robert Dixon; his brothers, Bob and David Dixon, and his daughter, Olivia Katz-Dixon.
Arrangements entrusted to Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston, NY 12401, where family and friends may visit on Saturday March 28, 2026, from 1pm to 4pm. A celebration of life will follow in the late spring, details to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Don’s memory to any of the following: Debra.org, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, or Doctors Without Borders. A tribute for Donald can be found at www.KeyserFuneralService.com, where you may leave memories and expressions of sympathy for his family.
