Darrell Sherman, 67 of Saugerties, NY passed away peacefully on Wednesday October 15, 2025 at Health Alliance Hospital Kingston in the presence of his family. He was born June 25, 1958 in Rhinebeck, NY, the son of the late Pearl Duntz and Allard Sherman of Elizaville, NY. In 1990, he married Deborah Glover.
In his younger years he was involved in Boy Scouts Troop 32, Elizaville, NY and the Livingston Ambulance Squad where he served as an instructor. Darrell graduated from Pine Plains High School in 1977 and from the Ulster County BOCDES School of Licensed Practical Nursing in 1997.
Darrell was employed by the Ferncliff Nursing Home in Rhinecliff, NY as a Certified Nursing Assistant and as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Darrell was loved by both staff and patients alike. He would often be seen late at night in a patient’s room sharing stories, jokes, and memories.
He was an active member of Local 1199 and served as Union Representative. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He enjoyed passing down his knowledge of the outdoors. He also enjoyed hiking with friends and gardening. In his later years, he was actively involved in Boy Scout Troop 31 Centerville and AYSO Soccer.
Darrell is survived by his wife of 34 years, Deborah Sherman and his children, Charles Sherman of Clermont, FL and Amanda Fleisher and her husband Mike of Groveland, FL. He has two grandchildren, Tadhg and Isla Fleisher. He is also survived by a sister, Darleen Sherman of Elizaville, NY.
Arrangements entrusted to Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service 362 Albany Ave, Kingston, NY 12401. Funeral and Celebration of Life will be private and at the discretion of the family at a later date.
