Catherine L. Neer

Catherine Louise Neer, of Rifton, passed away December 19, 2021 at the age of 93 peacefully at home surrounded by her family. She was born August 21, 1928 to the late Charles L. North and Ruth K. North in Kingston, NY. She married the love of her life Wesley M. Neer on June 26, 1948.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Joann Jones and her husband David, her son, Wesley Neer, Jr. and his husband Dr. Randall Lockhart, her grandchildren, Rachel Herring, Sarah Herring, Michael Jones and his wife Patricia, Isaac Jones, Nathan Lockhart and his wife Emily, and Jennifer Lockhart-Taylor and her husband Adam, her great grandchildren, Justin Struber, Kimberly Herring, Bryce Short, Kenric Herring, Evan Felter, Savannah Felter, Shadow Jones, Cheyanne Jones, Daisy and Harper Lockhart and Jackson Taylor, as well as several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are her brother, Curtis North and his wife JoAnn and her god daughter, Darlene Peterson. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Wesley, her brother, Charles North, Jr., and her step sister, Betty Tator.

She graduated Kingston High School in 1946, her first job was at JC Penny as a window dresser, she also worked at Anna Devine School and the Board of Elections. Her favorite job was homemaker and raising her children and grandchildren. She always kept a candy dish filled with M&M's, she enjoyed hearing the clang of the candy dish lid, it was a signal she had company.

One of her many joys was traveling, especially all through Europe. She loved her summers at the cottage on the lake with family, and later years winters in Arizona. She was a member of the Town of Esopus United Methodist Church and the Rifton Fire Company Auxiliary.

A special thanks to her caregivers Mikey and Lisa and Hospice for all their care and support. Catherine leaves behind a wonderful legacy and beautiful memories. She will be greatly missed but never forgotten.

Entrusted to the care of Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Ave., Kingston, NY 12401, where family and friends may visit on Wednesday December 22, 2021 from 4pm to 7pm. The funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Thursday December 23, 2021 at 11am with burial following in North Marbletown Cemetery.
