Catherine A. O'Brien

Catherine O'Brien, 100, of Connelly, NY, passed peacefully on Sunday morning, November 28, 2021, at her residence with her loving family by her side.

She was born on August 15, 1921, in Poughkeepsie, New York and was the daughter of the late Christopher and Catherine Gebbia

Catherine was married to the late Robert G. O'Brien, he died on March 24, 2013. For many years, she had worked for Gottlieb's in Poughkeepsie and then Barclay Knitwear in Port Ewen

Catherine was a communicant of St. Peter RC Church and is now a communicant of Immaculate Conception RC Church. She had been in the Mothers Club, was a Den Mother for Cub Scouts, and had been President of the Ladies Auxiliary at the Connelly Fire Department.

She was well known for her craft skills, for 50 years she made the "Easter Tree" with hand painted and decorated hollowed eggs, which had been a feature article in the Kingston Times.

She is survived by her loving children Patricia "Paddy" O'Brien and Joseph O'Brien both of Connelly, her sisters Mary Germano and Nina Nuccitelli, seven grandsons, seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A son Robert O'Brien predeceased Catherine

The family will receive their friends on Sunday December 5th from 2 - 5 pm. On Monday, December 6th, the procession will form at Keyser's at 10:15 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception RC Church at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at St. Peter's Cemetery, Poughkeepsie.
