Carol I. Geary, 79, died September 5, 2024, at home surrounded by those she loved and who loved her dearly. She was born in Kingston, the daughter of the late Harry F. and Isabelle Flynn Bailey. Carol attended the Academy of St. Ursula and graduated from Kingston High School, Class of 1963.
She worked for several years at the Metropolitan Insurance Hall of Records before leaving to raise her children. After the kids entered school, she worked for many years as the Parish secretary for St. Peter’s Church and St. Joseph’s Church in Kingston. A lifelong member of St. Mary’s Church, she served as a Eucharistic Minister, was a member of the Altar Rosary Society and served as the first female president of the Parish Council. She was always heavily involved with decorating the church for Christmas and Easter. Carol was a member of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians. Carol loved to entertain at home, especially on Thanksgiving, Christmas and St. Patrick’s Day. She was always available to help plan any type of celebration for family and friends.
On October 24, 1970, she married Paul V. Geary at St. Mary’s Church and was married for 54 years. In addition to her husband, Carol is survived by her sons Timothy and his wife Erin of West Hartford, CT and Christopher and his wife Becky of West Springfield, MA and her four beloved grandchildren, Daniel, Rylee, Nora and Gavin and her special Goddaughter, Colleen Dunham. Also surviving are her brother John (Nancy) Bailey and sister Betsy Bailey all of Orchard Park, NY. Many dear nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her stepmother Mary Kinney Bailey. Carol’s family would like to thank the tremendous staff of Hudson Valley Hospice, especially her Aide, Annie and the first responders of Kingston Fire Department.
Friends and family will be received at Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Ave., Kingston, NY 12401 on Friday from 3 - 7 PM. The funeral procession will form at the funeral home on Saturday at 9:00 AM and process to St. Mary’s Church, 160 Broadway, Kingston for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. For anyone wishing to make a memorial donation, the family suggests Hudson Valley Hospice, Michael J. Fox Parkinson’s Foundation, American Cancer Society and the Church of St. Mary-St. Peter, Kingston, NY.
