Carmela R. Bonacci

Kingston- Carmela R. “Carrie” Amato Bonacci of East Chester St. Extension died Monday at Benedictine Hospital. She was 81. She was born February 8, 1922 in Glasco, a daughter of the late Francesco and Rosaria Greco Amato. She had worked as a seamstress for the former Kingston Dress Co. She retired after 23 years in the assembly area of IBM in Kingston and Poughkeepsie in 1980. She was a member of the IBM Quarter Century Club and the American Association of Retired Persons. She was a member of St. Catherine Laboure Church. Surviving is her husband, Frank J. Bonacci whom she married on October 14, 1961. Also surviving is a sister, Adeline “Lil” Cashara of Lynchburg, VA and two brothers, Frank Amato of Richmond, VA and Joseph Amato of Kingsport, TN. Many nieces and nephews also survive. Two brothers, Michael “Gino” and Anthony Amato died previously. A funeral procession will form on Friday at 9:00 am from the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. At 10:00 am, a funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Catherine Laboure Church, Lake Katrine. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
