Betty Lou Lattin

June 24, 1938 — February 19, 2013

Betty Lou Lattin, with our broken hearts we announce the passing of our loving mother who was taken into God's hands Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at home surrounded by her family. Betty Lou was born on June 24th 1938 the daughter of the late Joseph Barbato and Betty (LaFalcia) Barbato, the middle child of three girls. Betty Lou spent her childhood in the Bronx and later moved to Hopewell Junction in the 1950's. She graduated from Wappingers Central School in 1956 where she was named salutatorian of her graduating class and Rose Queen.




Soon after graduating she met the love of her life Edward H. Lattin Jr. and was married on December 20th 1958. She moved to Hudson and later settled down in Kingston where they raised four sons. They were married for more than 27 years prior to his passing in 1986. For many years she worked at Mechanics Uniform in Kingston until she became a manager at IBM in East Fishkill until her retirement. After her retirement she oversaw many aspects of her son's family business, ACE Oil Company in Kingston. Betty Lou enjoyed cooking for her family, her love of the beautiful outdoors and her precious dogs. She also enjoyed gardening and bird watching, but nothing more than the compassion and love she had for her four boys.




She is survived by her children, Edward, Stephen, David and his wife Dianna and Thomas. She was the loving grandmother of, Olivia, Alexis, David Jr. and Hurley Elizabeth. She is also survived by her beloved sisters, Mary Brenner of Kingston, Jo-Ann Fitzgerald of FL, her aunt, Nettie Celantano and her Uncle Tony Barbato, both of the Bronx, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents she is predeceased by her step mother Mildred Barbato, as well as many aunts and uncles.




Betty Lou's celebration of life will be held at A. Carr & Son Funeral Home, 65 Lucas Ave., Kingston, where friends may call on Friday from 6 to 9. The funeral procession will form on Saturday at 9am at the funeral home and proceed to St. Joseph's RC Church where at 10 am a mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will follow in Montrepose Cemetery.




The family suggests memorial contributions be made to: St. Joseph School, 235 Wall St., Kingston, NY or St. Joseph's Church, 242 Wall St., Kingston, NY.
