Barbara Tabakman Barley

April 10, 1952 — October 22, 2024

Poughkeepsie

Barbara Tabakman Barley, 72, of Poughkeepsie, NY, passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2024. She was born on April 10, 1952 in Kingston, NY and was the daughter of Sidney and Gertrude Tabakman.

She led a quiet and humble life and enjoyed the simple pleasures of a meal out with loved ones, her morning coffee and newspaper on the porch, and leisurely enjoyed the sights, sounds, and tunes of the oldies music station of a car ride. She was deeply in touch with her emotions and of those around her and never shied away from a good cry or deep belly laugh.

Barbara loved her family and was a protective, loyal, and totally committed mother, daughter, sister, and aunt who often put her loved one’s needs before her own. This was her belief as well when it came to her beloved pets and to almost every outside stray cat whose lives she made better. Barbara’s level of kindness and empathy is the legacy she has imprinted on her sons and has been the experience of those who love and will always miss her and her authenticity.

She is survived by her sons Marc Villalobos and Shaun Villalobos. Her grandson Noah Cutler and great granddaughter Sophia Cutler. Her sisters Susan Gertner, Martha Van Dyke and Diane Dousharm. Nephew Shane Snyder along with multiple nieces and nephews and former husband Daniel Villalobos.

In addition to her parents, Barbara is preceded in death by her sister Nadine Danboise and nephew Bruce Swierc.

Arrangements entrusted to Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, Inc., 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston, NY 12401. For those who wish, contributions in Barbara’s memory may be made to Ulster County SPCA.
