Adeline 'Lee' Finkle

September 5, 1919 — April 5, 2023

Adeline ‘Lee’ Berardi Finkle passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at the age of 103. The daughter of Frank and Mary Nardi Berardi, Lee was born in East Kingston on September 5, 1919. She spent her childhood in Kingston, attending St. Mary’s Elementary and Kingston High Schools.

She married Robert Finkle on September 15, 1940. They were happily married and lovingly devoted to one another until his passing in August 2007. Together, they created a beautiful life focused on their faith, each other and family. Not blessed with children of their own, they shared their lives and their beautiful home in Ulster Park with nieces, nephews, neighbors and dear friends.

Lee was an exemplary Catholic, daughter, wife, sister, aunt, godmother and friend. She had many talents and accomplishments including her incredible flower and vegetable gardens, beautiful dressmaking, and fantastic cooking. Until her last day, she had a kind heart, a determined spirit, and a sense of humor.

In addition to her parents, Lee was predeceased by her nine siblings: Charles, Theresa (Berinato), Joseph, Amelio, Emma (Nalepa), John, Vincent, and Louis as well as her infant sister Adeline, for whom she was named. Several beloved nieces and nephews also predeceased her.

Aunt Lee is survived by several generations of nieces, nephews and godchildren for whom she was a great source of wisdom, fun and family history. She will be dearly missed.

Aunt Lee spent the last seven years at Woodland Pond in New Paltz where she remained active and engaged with the residents and staff. She sailed through COVID lockdowns with an indefatigable spirit, a big smile, her sense of humor intact, and her ever-present ‘to do’ lists. The family wishes to thank the entire management, staff and community at Woodland Pond for taking such good care of her. We are especially grateful to the nursing staff in Assisted Living that genuinely loved Aunt Lee, made her feel safe and special, and who will also mourn her loss.

A special thank you to Hudson Valley Hospice who provided wonderful care and compassion to her and the family. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made in Lee’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Hudson Valley Hospice or a charity of your choice.

Per her wishes, there will be no calling hours. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00am on Monday, April 10th at St. Mary’s Church, Kingston. Burial will be in the Mount Marion Cemetery. Arrangements are by Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service.
