Evelyn V. Sandstrom

Evelyn V. Sandstrom died February 20, 2004 at Hyde Park Nursing Home. She was 92. She was born in Poughkeepsie on March 27, 1911. A longtime resident of Poughkeepsie, Mrs. Sandstrom’s first husband, Claude E. Grant died in 1949. She worked as a live-in housekeeper in Poughkeepsie for many years and in the dining area at Hudson River State Hospital. Her second husband, Carl T. Sandstrom died in 1988. Beloved mother of June L. Pape of Kingston; loving grandmother of Daniel Pape, Terri Stalhut, Sherri Olejnikow, Elena Pape and Mary Ellen Murtagh. Seven great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren also survive. Reposing at Simpson – Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave., Kingston on Monday 7-9 PM. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday at 12:00 at the funeral home. Interment in New Paltz Rural Cemetery.
